Treats for all

like most little kids i used to leave out cookies for santa
with a small glass of milk.
i was also very concerned about the reindeer that were
working really hard all night long on little or nothing.
so i would leave out a larger bowl of carrots and sometimes celery for them.
they could at least make it to vancouver on that.
i had no problem trusting the thoughtful canadians with this task.
it was my dream to one day become canadian....(more on that another time).
once i had taken care of old saint nick and his crew it was time for my favorite shout out of all.
mrs. claus!
i really wanted to give her something that she would enjoy.
i felt she had the hardest job of all.
waiting.
on the most magical night of the year she had to
sit at home and wait for santa to return.
what a load of crap!
so i wanted to give her something that was just for her!
i usually gave her some bath bubbles.
occasionally some perfume samples.
now that i look back,
it was anything that was in the bathroom my mom had no use for....
sorry mrs. claus.
i remember stressing over the clarity of my instructions to santa
that the bath beads were for MRS CLAUS.
i would read the note to my mom at least three times
to make sure my perfume offering wasn't confusing.
The bath beads HAD TO GET TO MRS. CLAUS damnit!!!!!!
after my mom reassured me that my bath beads would indeed make it to the north pole,
i went to my room for the longest night of my life!!!
in the morning i would run to the offering table.
there i would find the cookie plate-
2 cookies missing and one with a bite taken out of it..
i always assumed santa was getting full on this leg of the trip.
the carrots......... gone!
good. they made it to canada.
beauty potions for the mrs.
GONE!
in their place was a note from santa thanking me for my generous spirit!
YES!!!!!
i was filled with such joy imagining the look on mrs. claus' face
when she recieved her bath beads.

my mom would then put her hand on my back
and with a smile on her face tell me how much she loved me.
i now realize how much my mom has always encouraged me.
she is a huge fan of christmas.
the decorations, the gatherings, that old holiday spirit.

Here's to the all the ladies of christmas!
CHEERS!!!!
